About RenovCost
RenovCost helps US homeowners get a realistic, city-specific cost range for 30 common home-improvement projects — before they ever talk to a contractor.
Why RenovCost exists
Most online cost guides are nationally averaged, ad-driven, or written to feed contractor lead-generation funnels. The numbers feel useful until you actually start a project — and then a quote in San Francisco or Brooklyn comes in 60% above what you read online.
RenovCost is built around a single idea: a kitchen remodel in Houston and a kitchen remodel in San Francisco are not the same project. Labor rates, permitting, code requirements, and supply chains all vary by city. We publish ranges that reflect those differences instead of hiding them behind a national average.
What we cover
- 30 common renovation project types
- 43 cities across 18 US states
- Cost calculators that adjust for size, finish tier, and location
- City-specific permitting, climate, and contractor-market context
- Material comparison tables, financing options, and hiring guides
How we make money
RenovCost is free to use and supported by display advertising. We do not run a contractor lead-marketplace, do not sell your information, and do not receive a referral fee on any quote you obtain elsewhere. Our cost ranges are not adjusted to favor any contractor, brand, or lender.
Who we are
RenovCost is a project of Blackcedar Media, an independent publisher of consumer-finance and home-improvement reference sites. We are not a contractor, a marketplace, or a lender.
